The space
This chalet offers amazing views looking over the valley of oak, cherry, and hemlock trees, and of course, the groves of laurel. The scenery is beautiful year-round from the flowers of spring, the greenery of summer, the bright colors of fall, and the majestic snowy landscapes of Winter. Conveniently this chalet is nestled on the quieter back way into Oakland (12 minutes away) where many festivities are held. Inside, the main level features a large open living/dining/kitchen area, with a classic mountain woodstove (reasonable firewood provided) as the focal point. Beautiful views abound from everywhere in the space. The kitchen is fully stocked for elaborate meals or a quick breakfast with coffee. The hallway on the main level leads to a full bathroom, a bedroom with 1 full bed, and another bedroom with bunk beds (full and twin) and another twin mattress. A large loft master suite offers a king bed, sitting area, sleeper sofa, and private bathroom, with great morning light and views of the valley and mountains. The lower level of the house is a favorite space for fun and entertainment with a 70-inch wall-mounted TV with surround sound, pool table, toys and board games, an enormous selection of new and classic DVDs, and access to the outdoor hot tub area. The lower level also has a bedroom with a full bed and direct access to a third bathroom, as well a laundry room with washer and dryer. Ceiling fans are located throughout the house and bedrooms. Even on warmer days the fans are often not needed if the screened windows or doors are opened because of the mountain location and regular breeze. Many recent upgrades have been installed, including a high-speed internet (100+ mbs), gas grill, electric vehicle charging, new outdoor and hot tub area, and a high-efficiency hot water tank. A few notes: High-speed internet supports streaming of popular services, but there is no local TV service. An antenna provides access to most local TV channels if that is helpful. We also offer a free electric vehicle (EV) charging station for guests with battery electric vehicles (BEV) or plug-in hybrid electric vehicles (PHEV). The charger is a Level 2 charger (32 AMP maximum current) with a common J1772 connector. Our property is situated in gated land with 50+ miles of private gravel roads that offer excellent walking and biking through forests, streams, and scenic views, including access right to the Muddy Creek. The immediate surroundings include the waterfalls and swimming holes of Swallow Falls State Park (5 min.), the legendary Snaggy Mountain Area trails and natural rock mazes (2 min.) - a favorite of kids and adults alike, Herrington Manner State Park (5 min.), the Cranesville Natural Area (8 min.), and many state forest lands (1-10 min.). The 4,000 acre Deep Creek Lake and Deep Creek Lake State Park, as well as many other outdoor recreation areas, are less than a 15 min. drive. The Deep Creek Lake area also offers plenty of restaurants, bars, nightlife, and recreation outfitters. Throughout our property and the entire region, plant and wildlife are abundant, with frequent opportunities to view deer, bears, lizards/turtles, foxes, turkeys, beavers, an array of birds, and rare mountain plants including lady slippers, ferns, and pitcher plants; lucky guests may even spot tracks of the elusive mountain lions in the area. The idyllic location of the Laurel Grove Chalet creates a wonderland of activities during every season, including hiking, biking, swimming, fishing, boating, water-skiing, tubing, and canoeing/kayaking in the summer. In the winter, enjoy skiing/snowboarding, snow tubing, sleigh rides, snowmobiling, snow-shoeing, and hiking. The fall foliage color is world-class (as is the white water rafting/kayaking), and the spring flowers are beautiful. Of course, all year round, enjoy the clear mountain skies, brilliant starry nights, and memorable camp fires! Please message us with any questions!

The pictures doesn’t do justice for this home. We were pleasantly surprised when we entered this home. The basement is perfect for entertainment with easy access to hot tub and fire pit outside. Upper deck provides wonderful view into the sunset.
The place was spacious for 9 people and two small pets.
The living room was smaller than originally expected. However, the tall ceilings and big loft bedroom makes up for this.

House was really awesome and in a beautiful location. Hot tub, billiards, and fire pit were all really fun to use! We got lucky with the temperatures being perfect but on a really hot weekend the upstairs could get pretty hot without AC, a mini split pack would probably work really well. Overall though, we had a great time and it was a restful fun weekend away!

Laurel Grove was a fantastic getaway for our group of three families. The home had an incredible view and offered plenty of space for adults as well as for our young children to play. They especially loved the bunk bed room! The cabin was also well-appointed with all basic supplies and very comfortable. We also liked how remote the cabin felt while we were only 20 minutes from the town of Oakland. We will likely book here again next time we visit the area.

We had a great stay! The inside of the cabin was super cozy and the kitchen had all the necessary items for cooking. If it’s during the winter time, I’d be sure to bring a few extra blankets with you just because it can get a bit cold for whoever is sleeping in the sofa bed in the living room. Otherwise, it was the perfect place to stay if you plan on going skiing at Wisp! We also lovedddd the hot tub.

Laurel Grove was the perfect set up for us! Lots of space to spread out to watch movie, play games or have a fire in the wood burning stove. The snow added an extra layer of magic to the weekend!
Laurel Grove will stay on our list of a perfect place for our annual ski trip!

We went to Deep Creek expecting to see snow so we were a bit disappointed with the rainy weather but my granddaughters really loved the snow tubing and snow coaster! The location was close to attractions but isolated in a great spot in the woods. The house was as expected: the wood burning stove kept things cosy and the great toy filled family room in the basement kept us all entertained. It is a well kept, well-equipped rental home. We would hope to come back in another season.

Laurel Grove was a wonderful retreat. The gated community made us feel very safe. While it is a community, you would never know there were any other homes nearby. The amenities at Laurel Grove were wonderful. We got a lot of use out of the hot tub, pool table and fire pit. The home has everything you need, but we did bring our own Keurig, plastic ware and dixi plates. There is a dishwasher though, and a fully equipped kitchen. We also brought oil, salt and pepper. I would suggest checking the freezer for the ice cube trays, washing them and making ice for your stay. The fridge is huge and really nice but the ice was not keeping up with our needs. We had 5 people. Also, I must say that the home is pet friendly, but you would never know a dog had ever stepped foot in. Our two small dogs enjoyed the downstairs while we played pool, and they also enjoyed a tie out while we were at the fire pit or in the hot tub. They got plenty of rest after our hike at Swallow Falls, which is extremely close to the home, just a short drive. A breaker was tripped and there was no hot water but someone came 13 minutes after I made the phone call! I was impressed with the cleanliness of every inch of the home. The WIFI is included and is spotty, just unplug the box and plug it back in every so often to reconnect. We want to come back soon to Laurel Grove!

We enjoyed Laurel Grove very much. The fully equipped kitchen, fresh linens, fun pool table and games, clean hot tub and WIFI were some of the amenities we enjoyed. We enjoyed that it was on private land and that it was a gated community, we felt very safe. Will be looking to stay here very soon again.

We celebrated my birthday at the cabin for the weekend. The space was beautiful and very clean! I was able to get ahold of the rental company without any issues! The weather there could be treacherous and I appreciated the warning, so we knew exactly what to expect! We did a hike that was suggested and it was beautiful! Between the view and amenities I couldn’t think of anything else we would have needed! An awesome stay!!

Wonderful place. We spent thanksgiving weekend here and the views and quiet were wonderful, house is beautiful. Unfortunately we didn’t see any wildlife around the house, but that’s wildlife. First thing in the morning it was wonderful to look out across the valley at the views-a wonderful way to start the day.
